This email is addressed to the Normans-CE Project members who belong to the I1-Samogitian subclade
Some time has passed since we have found that several I1 cases from Central-Eastern Europe form a special subclade with geographical focus may be in the Neman river system. This is about the following cases:
44019 Poland, ?Joseph Gan
44020 Poland, ?Paul Gan
PC6P5,24475 Ezhe (Vicilli) Maksimilliyan Gan, Belarus
236655 Symon s. Maximilian Drozdowski, b. 1754, d. 1813, Zaryeche, n.Minsk, Belarus
GF SE5616 Babin, Nizhneye Babino, Obolyanskiy Rayon, Kurskaya Oblast, Russia
153905 Brzezinski, Poznan, Poland
132649 pawel petravicius ( c. 1850),Kaltanėnai, n.Švenčionys,Lithuania
VGHR7 Mykolas Gasiūnas-Plumpa c.(1815-1895), Suvainiškis, Lithuania
235789 Antoni Rekuć, d.1925, b. Lajpuny/Leipalingis Lithuania One week ago, thanks to the Mr.Petravick SNP test, we learned that this subclade is L69+. This means that it belongs to the same branch like the Pomeranian-Polish-Prussian subclade I1-P, or the East-English subclade I1-AS7E. The I1-P subclade has probably expanded into continental Europe along the Vistula river system, starting somewhere close to Gdansk/ Danzig. Similarly, the expansion of the I1-Samogitian subclade could go along Neman. The expansion of I1-P has probably started about ten centuries ago. It is too early to state when the expansion of I1-Samogitian started, but it is extremely interesting to me whether it could have to do with the Palemon’s legendary conquest of Samogitia.
At this moment the further research is stopped due to lack of new cases in the subclade. But some progress could be achieved if dr Nordtvedt could define a modal haplotype of this subclade. To do this we need at least one, or better two, Y111 results in this subclade.
So I would like to ask those among you who can afford this, to upgrade your results to Y111.
Recently, FTDNA offers some discounts for such upgrades:
Y-Refine37to111, $188
Y-Refine67to111, $109
Best regards,
Marek Skarbek Kozietulski
