In response to your question... If he can trace his patrilineage for relatively long time, e.g. several centuries (and you do not know if he can or not), and can find a distant (potential) paternal relative with a common ancestor e.g. 200-300-400 years ago, and test that guy, he will at least know minimal time of presence of his "Slavic" patrilineage on the territory of China.
