Hi all members of clade L1280,
A new SNP marker downstream of L1280 has recently become available for individual orders at FTDNA. This new mutation, named FGC11555 (or Y3302) has been found in two FGC-tested members of clade L1280 (kits B1171 and B1571) from the unclustered group (or category 6.B2M*). Importantly, it seems that two other L1280 members (kit 160427 from cluster B2M1B, and kit E14821 from cluster B2M2A) who both took the Big Y test are negative for this new SNP. Thus, it seems that FGC11555 encompasses a relatively old subclade of L1280 that does not, however, include neither the large Central European subcluster B2M1 nor the Balkan-Carpthian subcluster B2M2. Therefore, I would suggest ordering FGC11555 to all those L1280 members who were not assigned to any specific cluster yet, thus mostly to people from Western Europe and the Alpine region (but also some people from Russia), although all other L1280 members who are not going to order any NGS-based test (like Big Y or FGC) in the nearest future, may also try it.
Best regards,
Michał

A small but important correction to my previous message.
FGC11555 (Y3302) was not reported by FTDNA among the new SNPs found in the BigY-tested L1280 members (160427 and E14821) but after the raw data for one of them (E14821) were additionally analyzed at YFull, he was found positive for this new SNP. Thus, we may suspect that also the other BigY-tested member of L1280 is positive for FGC11555, so this SNP may be common to all (or nearly all) L1280 people.
Nevertheless, it seems that it still makes some sense to test this SNP by some unclustered (and relatively atypical) members of ouer clade, as there is a small chance that FGC11555 is positive in most but not all L1280 members.

Hi all,I am very sorry, but it seems that I have introduced some unnecessaryconfusion with my previous email. I simply made an error when mistaking anFGC-tested FGC11555+ member of clade L1280 (in the YFull database) with apresumably FGC1155-negative BigY-tested member of cluster 6.B2BA who hasalso submitted his raw data to YFull, so please disregard all I havewritten in my last message. To summarize, it seems that FGC11555 should be tested by all unclusteredmembers of L1280, especially those from Western Europe and the Alpineregion, although the unclustered people from Russia and some other regionsof Europe could also try it. Additionally, it would be useful to knowwhether some very small subclusters of L1280, like 6.B2M3 (Alpine,DYS444=12), 6.B2M4 (Eastern, DYS534=11), 6.B2M5 (Western, DYS607=14,DYS438=12) and 6.B2M6 (Balkan, DYS460=10, GATA-H4=13) are positive ornegative for FGC11555.And please forgive me of my absent-mindedness - I definitely need a breakfrom this job.
