Complete Family Tree: BOURBON-JONES, on Ancestry.com
Paternal Ancestry: My father's personal ancestry was entirely of French origin, with the exception of two Kaskaskia Indian women among my 6th great grandmothers. His French lines came to North America at various times, and ended up in Missouri. Three major periods of immigration in his lines: 1600s, France to "New France" - Canada; 1700s, France to what is now Alabama, and a later line from France to Ohio, then Missouri; finally, the Bourbons came from France to Missouri in 1855, and all of the lines converged. On the autosomal DNA test, many of my matches will occur by way of siblings and cousins off of my father's direct lines, where beginning in the late 1800s, people did marry outside of the French / French-Canadian gene pool. I am still trying to incorporate all of those side branches into my larger tree.
Maternal Ancestry: Up in the air. The story that follows was what I thought, as of 21 Apr 2010. On 22 Apr 2010, DNA results at23andme raised the possibility of an entirely different scenario on my maternal side. Further testing will be done. The old story -- Mother was adopted by her biological father. Her father's line (Kuch) is German (Wurttemberg - Tubingen-Heilbron area; Prussia - west of Dusseldorf, perhaps into Belgium or the Netherlands). All I know of her mother's line is the surname, Kibbe, which could be either German, or from the British Isles. My gg grandfather Kuch came from Tubingen to Pennsylvania in 1850. As a girl, my g grandmother Schillings came from near Dusseldorf in the 1870s.
