The STR pattern in your result points to the I-CTS10228 haplogroup. This haplogroup is nicknamed as "Dinaric group" because it is most frequent in the Dinaric Alps region. But, it does not mean that origins of this group are from that region. This group is divided in two clusters: Dinaric North and Dinaric South. Please note: it is a STR based division and we use it when there are no relevant SNP tests results. You do not have any SNP test result and haplogroup prediction is based on the STR pattern.
People with STR values DYS448=20 (and higher) and DYS 449=31 (and higher) belong to the Dinaric North group, which is usually found in northeastern Europe (Poland, Baltic countries, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia etc.).
People with STR values DYS448=19 (and lower) and DYS 449=31 (and lower) belong to the Dinaric South group, which is usually found in southeastern Europe (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro etc.). But it is also present in Central European countries, especially in Germany.
You have DYS448=19 and DYS449=30, you belong to the Dinaric South cluster.
Our project is focused on haplogroups, ancient ancestry going back thousands of years. Haplogroups are defined by SNP markers. Your DNA contains many, many SNPs. SNP is a point mutation in our DNA which occurs naturally over time. Genealogists use the most recent or "terminal" SNP to define your haplogroup. FTDNA predicts that you are in the I-P37 haplogroup. But it is not your the most downstream SNP. We can predict that you have also more downstream M423+, L621+, CTS10936+, CTS10228+, S17250+ and PH908+ results. I-PH908 haplogroup experienced a very rapid expansion roughly 1600 years ago and many lines with very similar STR patterns survived. There are many haplogroups below I-PH908, most of them are not identified yet.
