subClade: Din-N
Serhiy,
you asked about the term ancestral. Actually there are two
terms which need to be explained.
derived + ancestral -
derived condition means you possess a "new" mutation one not possessed
by your ancestors. If you don't possess this mutation it means you have
the ancestral condition.
You are P37.2+ and M26- among other SNPs, so you are derived for
P37.2 and ancestral for M26. If you tested for M423, it would be +
meaning derived. Your 67 markers indicate your clade is I2a2-M423-Din-N
so you don't have to test for M423, this saves you some money.
another term: downstream. Again, we have two terms, downstream and
upstream. Downstream designates the relationship between two SNPs or
two branches or two clades, with downstream meaning it occured after
the first SNP. Upsteam would be the term describing the first SNP,
and occuring before the other SNP.
We know all folks in I2a possess the SNP P37.2. Then SNP M26
and SNP M423 occurred. So M26 and M423 are downstream from P37.2
and these newly discovered SNPs are downstream from the split of
M26 and M423 from the P37.2 branch.
Hopefully new SNP tests of L158, L159, L160 and the new SNP from
O'Grady's WTY (yet unnamed) will give us new info in this regard.
